Safety Tips
Connect with Confidence
TreeByForest is built to help people find their community, discover new connections, and feel at home wherever life takes them.
Meeting new people can be exciting, but it's important to take simple precautions when connecting online or meeting someone in person. Trust your instincts, protect your personal information, and take things at your own pace.
Protect Your Personal Information
Be thoughtful about the information you share with people you've just met.
Don't share passwords, verification codes, financial information, or sensitive personal documents.
Avoid sharing your exact home address with people you don't know well.
Be careful about sharing personal contact information until you feel comfortable.
Review the information visible on your profile and only share what you're comfortable making available to other members.
Take Your Time
You don't have to rush a new connection.
Get to know someone through conversations before deciding to meet in person. If someone pressures you to share information, send money, move conversations elsewhere, or meet before you're comfortable, it's okay to say no or end the conversation.
Meeting Someone for the First Time
If you decide to meet another TreeByForest member:
Meet in a busy, public location.
Choose a place you're familiar with when possible.
Tell a trusted friend or family member where you're going.
Share your expected meeting time and location with someone you trust.
Arrange your own transportation when possible.
Keep your phone charged and accessible.
Consider making your first meeting relatively short and easy to leave.
Trust your instincts and leave if something doesn't feel right.
Be Careful With Money
Never send money to someone simply because you've met them through TreeByForest.
Be cautious if someone asks you for money, financial assistance, investments, gift cards, loans, cryptocurrency, or help with an emergency. A request for money should never be treated as proof that someone is trustworthy.
Watch for Suspicious Behavior
Be cautious if someone:
Quickly asks for personal or financial information.
Pressures you to move a conversation away from TreeByForest.
Makes promises that seem too good to be true.
Uses someone else's identity or provides inconsistent information.
Pressures you to meet privately.
Becomes threatening, abusive, or controlling.
Asks you to receive or transfer money on their behalf.
Sends suspicious links, files, or requests for login information.
Trust Your Instincts
You don't need to continue a conversation that makes you uncomfortable.
You can stop communicating with someone, leave a community or event, or report behavior that concerns you. Your comfort and safety come first.
Report Problems
If you believe someone is violating TreeByForest's Community Guidelines, behaving abusively, attempting to scam others, or creating an unsafe environment, report the person, community, or event using the available reporting tools.
When reporting an issue, provide as much useful information as possible. This may include the person's profile, relevant messages, event or community details, and a description of what happened.
If You Feel Unsafe
If you are in immediate danger or believe a situation could become dangerous, prioritize getting to a safe place and contact your local emergency services or a trusted person.
TreeByForest cannot guarantee the behavior or identity of every person you encounter. Stay aware, use your judgment, and take reasonable precautions when interacting with people online and offline.
A Safer Community Starts With Everyone
Every member plays a role in creating a welcoming and respectful community.
Treat others with respect, respect personal boundaries, and speak up when something doesn't feel right. By looking out for yourself and others, we can help make TreeByForest a place where meaningful connections can grow.
